He received his bachelor's degree from Tianjin University in 2001, his master's degree from Nancy University 1, France in 2003, and his doctoral degree from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lorraine, France in 2007. His master's and doctoral dissertations were completed at the INRIA laboratory in France. From 2007 to 2008, he was a postdoctoral researcher and visiting scholar at the University of Toronto and McGill University in Canada.

He has led one National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) key project, one Ministry of Science and Technology (MST) key R&D project, two general projects, one NSFC youth project, one 973 sub-project, one 863 sub-project, one MST major scientific instrument project, one MST civil aircraft project, and one Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Action Project.
